A Beautiful Thing

portAs summer steadily comes to an end and the ever-changing leaves remind us that fall is near letís take a look at what changes we too can make to embrace this season of renewal.

Iím unsure as to who came up with the notion that people eat less in the summer because itís just not so. Iíve observed that many people are generally off their dietary regimes during the summer months. Summertime, is a wonderful time of year to kick back, relax and have fun, however, many of us tend to overeat, drink alcoholic beverages and consume frozen foods like ice-cream all summer long which adds stress to our digestive tract, especially our intestines.

Becoming bowel-minded, a phrase often used by Dr. Bernard Jensen (Chiropractor and Iridologist), literally means being mindful of our bowels...In other words, ensuring that our bowels are moving frequently (optimally after each meal). Undoubtedly, Americans have this notion that the ďBĒ word is a dirty word and therefore make it a point not to discuss it. Well itís time to break the mold America and start talking about it because we must understand that the best skin creams in world will not make us beautiful. Cleaning our intestines, however, is how beautiful skin is created. Hence, becoming bowel-minded is a beautiful thing.

Here are some staggering statistics:

  • One person in every 10 in the United States has a chronic digestive disease.
  • Digestive disorders are the leading cause of hospitalization and surgery.
  • Nearly 200,000 Americans die each year from diseases of the digestive system.
  • There are over 100 diseases of the digestive system, most linked in some way with a history of chronic constipation.

As an Iridologist, I pay particular attention to intestinal iris signs especially when I see bowel pockets or tiny holes which have accrued in weak areas of the colon. These areas tend to accumulate waste and are more susceptible to harmful bacteria and parasites. In addition, these areas are often precursors for colon cancer due to the constant irritation to the bowel wall.

As seen in Figure A, there are several bowel pockets shown which are all in the chronic stages. Chronic and degenerative iris signs will always take more time to heal as opposed to acute and sub- acute signs. Even if this client follows a Holistic Wellness Plan consistently for 6 months there may not be any noticeable changes for years. This all depends on how long the particular tissue has been affected.

On the contrary, Figure B shows a very healthy colon which is a rarity for an Iridologist to come across. The autonomic nerve wreath (ANW) which is the 2nd layer of the iris starting from the pupil encompasses the small and large intestines. A healthy ANW is perfectly round and smooth as shown below. In addition, there are very few bowel pockets.


So how does one become bowel-minded? First, we need to be honest with ourselves and ask if there are areas of our life which we are discontent with. If we are walking around every day with negative thoughts about certain areas of our life then how will we ever think positively about our health? Creating harmony in the areas of our life which are unsatisfying does wonders for our health especially our bowel health. Next, we need to be mindful of what weíre eating. If what we consume does not benefit our body then why eat it? Donít forget that the average American has a chronic disorder. So, if you want to live a long, healthy life itís time to start living above the average person. Finally, itís a really good idea to get into the practice of home-made colonics every 8-10 weeks. There is no need to pay for an expensive colonic because it is not necessary to use fancy equipment. All you need is a slanted board, a five gallon bucket, surgical rubber tubing, a rectal tip and either liquid clay, chlorophyll or coffee as an additive for extra cleansing.
